Gregory J. Barnett, M.D.

2021-25, Child and Adolescent Mood Disorders Clinic
Dr. Barnett is a fourth-year Max Gray Fellow. Before participating in this program, he graduated from the child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the Jane and Terry Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA. Dr. Barnett received his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yale University and decided to pursue a career in medicine. He then went on to the Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University and developed an interest in working with children and adolescents with mental health challenges. Dr. Barnett completed his adult psychiatry residency training at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, where he provided care to a diverse patient population at a safety net hospital.
As a Max Gray Fellow, Dr. Barnett continues to hone his skills in psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and individual therapy with complex patients. Among the most rewarding aspects of his work in the clinic has been witnessing the growth of the individuals and families he has supported over multiple years. In addition to his fellowship, Dr. Barnett holds several roles in the community, including working with UCLA medical trainees and graduate students, contributing to the Psilocybin-Assisted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy study at UCLA, maintaining a private practice, and providing care to higher-acuity adolescents and young adults at a partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient program in West Los Angeles.
