PEERS® for Careers

The NeuroPIPES program aims to create a pathway for autistic individuals to enter biomanufacturing careers by providing both soft and hard skills training. Participants first receive soft skills training through UCLA’s Program for the Education and Enrichment of Relational Skills (PEERS®) Clinic, utilizing the PEERS® for Careers program, a peer-reviewed behavioral intervention designed to help autistic individuals succeed in professional environments. This training focuses on workplace social skills, professional communication, interview techniques, and strategies for disclosing a diagnosis to employers. Following this, participants complete a two-week hands-on technical training at the National Center for Therapeutics Manufacturing (NCTM), covering biomanufacturing processes, quality control, and documentation. Additionally, employers receive training to foster inclusive workplaces, address skill gaps, and better support autistic employees, ensuring long-term success in the workforce.
